Saying Good-bye to Grandpa Mo

Grandpa Mo passed away Sept 26th 2011. He was 85 years old and was married to his sweet wife, and our grandma Dorris for 65 years! We found out of his death the morning of Sept 27th and were able to go to Colorado to attend his funeral. We spent a lot of time visiting with grandma. His funeral was the most honorable service and viewing I'd ever experienced. Grandpa is a Navy vet, and was involved in the American Legion and Elks Club. You can imagine the service they all provided for him. His entire family made it to the funeral. Kids, grandkids and great grandkids included. Grandma kept saying how special it was that not one person was missing. Chris was able to be a paul bearer along with his dad, brother, two stepbrothers, uncle and cousin. Chris wore his fire fighter uniform in honor of grandpa and Xander wore his cub scout uniform also in honor of grandpa.

My Little Quarterback

Xander was able to play quarterback this game. He did AWESOME! He scored his first touchdown. And it was the only touchdown of the game for both teams!  His grandpa's, grandma's and aunts were all there to watch him do his best. We are so proud of him! Great game!

FOOTBALL

READY, SET, GO!
Xander is playing flag football again this year. He is on the Patriots team and having fun. We are busy making practices twice a week and games on Saturdays. Plus, we do cub scouts in between.
The kids rotate positions so I am excited to see him do them all. This year the kids seem to be more of team. They are learning plays and starting to look at a play book. The coaches are a bit more technical now that they are getting older. It is so neat to be able to watch the boys grow, learn and play together. We are looking forward to a fun couple of months.

Our 3rd Grader!

August 24th, 2011
Today Xander started 3rd grade! We started the morning with scramble eggs and a whole wheat cinnimon waffle for breakfast. He didn't have much time to waste so he got dressed for school and off we went. This year he gets to line up at the 'big kid door' since his school is k-3. His teacher is Mrs. Goule and I hear from other parents she is a good one! I hope! Unfortunately, his best friends Spencer is not in his class this year. He is looking forward to making new friends and seeing his old friends at recess and lunch.

On our way to school!
(of course he's happy-just doesn't wanna show it. ha)

I couldn't wait to pick him up and hear about his first day!! I baked him his GIANT monster cookie he gets every year on the first day of school, after school. As we talked about his day he says, "I really didn't like the first day of 3rd grade." "Why?" I asked. "Well, all we did was projecty stuff and that's boooorring. I'd rather do math." I busted out laughing. This kid hasn't liked to do crafts, color or any thing of the sort since he was a toddler! I couldn't get the kid to color a coloring book for the life of me. I thought he'd 'grow into it' when he got older. Nope. He hasn't. Oh well. At least he's a great student who loves to learn and can make lots of friends. :)

12 Years

August 7, 2011.
Today we've been married 12 years. We celebrated by going golfing and then hit up a brewery for food and beer afterwards. We are terrible golfers. Threw a couple clubs, said some cuss words and laughed at each other. That was the fun part. smile.

Summer Vacation

We decided to take a family trip to Silverwood Water and Theme Park in Idaho. It was a quick 6 hr drive 3 days and two night stay. The first day we spent at the city park beach playing in the water, making sand castles, eating snow cones, eating hot dogs, and paddle boating. The next day we headed for the water park and spent 6 hours riding the waves, going down slides, laying in the sun and riding in tubes! It was so much fun. After that we spend the next 4 hours at the theme park. Now, this is honestly the first time Xander has really ever been on any 'real' rides. So,  DAD decides the Tremors roller coaster would be a good start! Holy Crap - I don't  think Xander could even scream he was so scared! But he liked it, too he said.

CITY PARK BEACH

Chris burying Xander in the sand and making him have 'boobs!' It was so funny.
